A Journey With Impact, Week 1.

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]ith Impact Personal Training (IPT) being a new business in town, we thought it would be a good idea to showcase our skills here at IPT. So to do this, Ross (pictured) has kindly allowed IPT to share his journey with you.

We will keep you up to date with Ross’ Training, nutrition and occasionally get Ross to say a few words about the process and his journey to a new, healthier Ross.

Ross’ first session was on Monday 9th June with Richard, IPT’s Owner and Advanced Personal trainer (PT). First things first, Rich carried out a health consultation and took all relevant measurements.

As Ross is new to Training, Rich kept the exercises basic (don’t mistake this for being easy!) so he could get the maximum amount of work out of Ross. Rich decided to use a peripheral heart action (PHA) weights circuit. By alternating from upper body to lower body exercises in quick succession it makes the heart work extra hard and elicits a ‘cardio’ response whilst reaping all of the benefits of a resistance based training session.

Here is the first part of Ross’ Session from Monday –

A1 Olympic barbell squat – 12-15 reps
A2 Lat pull-down – 12-15 Reps
A3 Walking lunges (holding dumbells) – 12-15 reps
A4 Seated cable chest press 12-15 reps

There was no rest between exercises until A4 was completed; at that point Ross took 90 seconds before starting A1 again. We repeated this 4 times. Give it a go and let us know how you get on!

Ross-week-1

Ross is now 7 days into his new fitness regime, so that meant it was time to jump back onto the scales (we wont weigh/measure every week, but we certainly will be for the next few weeks at least to make sure we are on track). Ross was very nervous about weighing in this morning, partly due to sticking to his nutrition, rest and training religiously for the last 7 days and not knowing what to expect, he needn’t have worried – a Whopping 12lb loss in his first week, well done Ross!

With big smiles all round, Rich and Ross headed into the personal training area at IPT and got started on this weeks training, with even more focus, confidence and determination than ever before.

It’s not going to be an easy journey for anybody to make the changes they want to their body, but it will definitely be worth it in the end!

Thanks for reading
